SeaDataNet 2 : a better exchange of sea data

SeaDataNet2 will focus on the upgrade of the present SeaDataNet infrastructure. The overall objective is to develop an operationally robust and state-of-the-art Pan-European infrastructure for providing up-to-date and high quality access to ocean and marine metadata, data sets and data products, acquired from research cruises and other observational activities in European marine waters and global oceans.

Ocean and marine data infrastructure will originate by setting, adopting and promoting common data management standards and by realizing technical and semantic interoperability with other relevant data management systems and initiatives on behalf of science, environmental management, policy making, and economy.

The National Oceanographic Data Center (OGS-NODC) is the Italian node of the distributed infrastructure, that gives access to historical and new collected marine environmental data, obtained by national and international monitoring networks.
