Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation - PCTO

In 2019, OGS signed with the Central Directorate for Labour, Training, Education and Family - Lifelong Learning and European Social Fund Service and with the Regional School Office of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a special agreement for the implementation of Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation - PCTO.

OGS is available to host students of the last three years of upper secondary schools, for periods of learning in a work situation, within the Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation programme - PCTO, pursuant to art. 1 of Law 30 December 2018 n. 145.

All information pertaining to the topic can be found on the FVG Region website.

In the context of the PCTOs, OGS, with a view to providing a valid reference and orientation point for students who intend to continue their studies in the scientific field with priority reference to the fields of Oceanography (physical, chemical and biological), Geophysics and Marine Geology, Applied and Exploration Geophysics, proposes several training paths to integrate school knowledge with practical work experience, bringing students closer to the world of work and allowing them to acquire several transversal skills.

Internships

An internship is a period of orientation and training, carried out in a working context and aimed at getting young people into work.

There are two types of traineeships:

  • curricular traineeships, aimed at young people attending an education or training course and designed to integrate learning with work experience. This type of traineeship is governed by school or university regulations and is promoted by schools, universities or accredited training institutions;
  • extracurricular traineeships, aimed at facilitating young people's career choices through a period of training in a productive environment and thus with direct knowledge of the world of work. This type of internship is regulated by the Regions and Autonomous Provinces.

OGS makes its laboratories, equipment and research infrastructures available for curricular internships, in agreement with Italian and foreign universities, and extracurricular internships, in order to facilitate professional choices through direct knowledge of the world of work.

OGS is available to activate internships in its scientific and administrative structures.
For curricular traineeships, please contact the relevant office of your university or consult the Regione FVG website.

For extracurricular traineeships, the managing office is the Recruitment and External Staff Office: concorsi@ogs.it

Doctorates

Over the years, OGS has contributed significantly to the diffusion of scientific knowledge, and collaborates with many universities in Italy and abroad for higher education programmes, including PhD programmes. OGS develops thematic PhD programmes, to support scientific research and involve young researchers in its research areas.
