OGS participates in numerous networks, associations and consortia with the aim of sharing and transferring its know-how for the benefit of national and regional economic development.

Over the years, OGS has earned a solid scientific reputation in the field of dissemination of scientific knowledge, built on a well-established network of institutional and international relations with Italian and foreign universities and public research bodies, both for joint research projects and for higher education or scientific dissemination activities, as well as with international governmental and non-governmental organisations and national and regional authorities.

Indeed, OGS actively participates in several research networks, associations and consortia – a significant list when looking at the quality and international reputation of the institutions present.
Moreover, the highly multidisciplinary approach to environmental studies is an opportunity to work in an extremely active and advanced field of research that allows transferring scientific results from the research world to the productive sector and society, thus contributing to technological and socio-economic development.

The institute also aims at promoting both Science and Environmental Diplomacy by fostering international dialogue and encouraging international cooperation with a particular focus on the Mediterranean, Central European and Balkan regions, the Black Sea, Latin America, the Polar Regions and more recently Central Asia.
