Mobility

  1. Home/
  2. Mobility

Talent circulation and international mobility programmes enhancing the attractiveness of the institution and the country system.

OGS invests in its ability to attract talent and encourages international mobility, which, besides offering important opportunities for individual growth, can guarantee the institution a progressive consolidation of qualified relations with foreign universities and research centres.

Considering its prominent international vocation, the institution promotes and strengthens the attractiveness of talent from abroad by implementing an incisive policy aimed at augmenting the mobility actions that are part of the strategic objectives of the Institution. These activities are aimed at improving promotion and reception. The recruitment of foreign researchers and scholars is also notably conditioned by the ability to offer an attractive environment in terms of research, teaching, spaces and welfare. The achievement of these objectives is therefore closely linked to the quality of life offered by the host institution. OGS has long been committed to the constant improvement of its attractive image, with the aim of increasing the percentage of foreign researchers and scholars wishing to choose the institution to carry out research and higher education activities in the various areas of interest.

The mobility actions promoted by the organisation are possible through the implementation and application of policies and financial instruments made available by different programmes and ad hoc interventions.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions for Mobility and Career Development

Through the "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions" the European Commission funds researchers of all nationalities, in all disciplines and at all career stages, also offering the possibility of doctoral studies in cooperation with companies.

Scientific staff positions at the JRC (Joint Research Centre)

On this site are opportunities for internships and external contracts to work at the various institutes of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, located in Italy, in Ispra, and in other European countries.

The European Research Council and the mobility of scientific excellence

The European Research Council (ERC) is the European Union's funding body for excellent researchers of all ages and nationalities wishing to carry out frontier research in EU Member States or associated countries. The ERC supports high-risk research projects.

COST Actions

COST Actions support the exchange of information between researchers. They are actions enabling European researchers to jointly develop their ideas in any field of science and technology, on any theme. COST therefore supports all types of research, including high-risk research, on innovative and emerging research topics, without setting limits or guidelines on research priorities. COST Actions aim to build science and technology networks through a range of networking tools such as workshops, conferences, training schools, short-term science missions (STSMs), and dissemination activities.

TRIL Programme

The TRIL (Training and Research in Italian Laboratories) agreement, which provides for joint funding of scholarships, has proved an effective tool for intensifying the international relationships that are the prerogative of a major research institute.

TWAS-SISSA Visiting Programme

TWAS, SISSA and Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, are working together to promote scientific development in less developed countries. An exchange programme for young scientists from the southern hemisphere has been launched, allowing them to gain scientific experience in the laboratories of SISSA and other Italian centres of excellence. OGS has been chosen by these important international scientific institutions to play the role of "host institution". Researchers will therefore be able to express their preference for the institution where they will be able to develop their scientific and research activities, enabling them to enhance their qualifications and skills.

EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion

The European Commission's portal to promote the careers of researchers and facilitate their mobility in Europe: job opportunities and useful information for living and working in another European country.
