The fourth edition of MareDireFare, the Ocean festival, begins

The MareDireFare festival is taking place again this year. It was born in 2021 from an idea of the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS) and the WWF Miramare Marine Protected Area to celebrate the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) and to encourage people to think about the conservation and future of marine resources.

The festival will open on April 11, National Sea Day, with the inauguration of the Art&Science exhibition "Chronicles from the depths" in the Veruda Hall in Passo Costanzi 2 at 6 pm: a journey of knowledge and discovery of some of the most fascinating and lesser-known areas of the Big Blue, the ocean depths, from the Mariana Abyss to the seabed of the Gulf, from the ocean ridges to the deep waters of Antarctica and the Mediterranean.

A journey in which 20 panels designed by 5 artists (Stefania Delponte, Paola Formica, Chiara Giorgiutti, Maria Luisa Petrarca, Paolo Primon) enter into a dialogue with the words of science and with the photos and videos taken during the ocean expeditions of the Schmidt Ocean Institute in some of the most remote seabeds of our planet.

To accompany the exhibition, MareDireFare is offering a programme of events aimed at the general public, residents, tourists and families, as well as some events for journalists and the educational community. The event will end on April 22, World Earth Day.
