Occupational health and safety

  1. Home/
  2. Occupational health and safety

In May 2024, OGS obtained UNI ISO 45001:2018 certification, the international standard for the certification of occupational health and safety management systems, which is the result of a systematic commitment at all levels of the organisation to the prevention of work-related accidents and occupational diseases.

OGS management's strategy to support and maintain the standards includes:

  • Suitable facilities, equipment and tools to guarantee safe working conditions will be provided;
  • The culture of safety will be disseminated among all personnel working for and on behalf of the Institute;
  • Awareness, on the dangers and risks of the activities performed, will be raised at all levels, and this will be carried out by adopting systematic preventive assessment procedures;
  • All product and service suppliers will be involved in the commitment to guarantee the health and safety of workers.

The Institute, also, undertakes to:

  • Provide safe working conditions for workers and collaborators in order to prevent work-related accidents and occupational diseases;
  • Guarantee compliance with applicable health and safety legislation, rules and regulations, in all working environments, by using tools and procedures for sharing the envisaged obligations at all levels;
  • Identify other requirements arising from interested parties, and ensure that they are assessed and fulfilled consistently with the commitments undertaken;
  • Ensure ongoing improvement of the safety management system, as a tool to systematically reduce risks, by eliminating, where possible, and, in any case, minimising hazards;
  • Guarantee a periodic consultation with workers and support their participation in the development of the management system, as key players of the ongoing improvement process;
  • Make its knowledge available for the protection of the territory;
  • Guarantee the economic, technological and human resources necessary to achieve the Institute’s objectives;
  • Guarantee the training of people working for the organisation so as to improve the quality of the services offered to customers, and enhance personal aptitudes by developing new knowledge and skills;
  • Define, implement and monitor the Institute’s occupational health and safety objectives;
  • Involve, motivate and develop the professional skills of all people working for OGS, through continuous education and training;
  • Select and audit suppliers to ensure the quality of the services provided, and involve them in the continuous improvement process, and support them in enhancing their performance;
  • Commit to the continuous improvement of its organisational capabilities as well as the responsiveness of the Institute to adapt to the evolution of the sector;
  • Commit to the improvement of the efficiency in the management of its processes, in order to make the best use of the company resources.

The policy is shared with all people working for and on behalf of OGS and is made available to interested parties.
