Beyond Blue: the call opens for the MareDireFare 2026 exhibition
The Art & Science exhibition—set to be the heart of the next edition of MareDireFare, the Ocean Festival—returns, along with a new call for artists centered on a new theme: “Beyond Blue: the Colors of the Sea – Sight as a Means of Knowledge and Scientific Literacy.”
The sixth edition of the festival, conceived by OGS and the Miramare Marine Protected Area, is scheduled for spring 2026. This year it invites the public to move beyond the idea of the sea as a simple blue expanse and instead discover its extraordinary variety of colors, forms, and perceptions.
Beyond Blue is a visual journey that explores the sea as a complex, dynamic, and multifaceted ecosystem, where light, organisms, and natural processes create a chromatic mosaic rich in scientific and cultural meaning. Through a selection of works by traditional illustrators, advertising illustrators, and graphic designers, the exhibition investigates how sight can become a tool for knowledge, scientific literacy, and emotional connection with the marine environment.
The deadline to apply is January 4. More information is available in the “Contests” section of the festival website: www.maredirefare.it
