Climate change and migration: the CREATE project by OGS e CEI has started

Climate change and migrations are the core of the event entitled "Climate, Hunger, Conflicts, migrations: turning four problems into a solution" that will take place on Saturday 2 July at 6 pm in the lecture hall of the University of Trieste via Montfort. The event kicks off CREATE, the project, promoted by the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS and co-financed by the Central European Initiative (CEI), aiming to raise awareness of the role of climate change in migration and of Scientific Diplomacy as a tool for finding shared solutions. Grammenos Mastrojeni, Senior Deputy Secretary-General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) will attend the workshop.

"The event is part of Blue Skills, the initiative promoted by OGS and funded by Italian Ministry of University and Research - MUR which is part of the European and international strategies on sustainable blue economy" Mounir Ghribi, director of the OGS International Cooperation and Research Promotion says. "The goal is to train a new generation of professionals to tackle climate, economic and environmental challenges through the creation and management of a platform of knowledge and skills on the blue economy, offering qualified training opportunities".

A number of OGS advanced training initiatives on the blue economy included among Blue Skills' activities have recently started or are about to start: the Advanced Master on Sustainable Blue Growth, the Summer School: the Copernicus Marine Service as a supporting tool to foster Sustainable Blue Economy and Alumni Day.
