The colours of the sea at the heart of the sixth edition of MareDireFare – the Ocean Festival

The MareDireFare festival is back again this year. First launched in 2021 as a joint initiative between the OGS and the WWF Miramare Marine Protected Area, it was created to mark the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030), which aims to encourage reflection on the conservation and future of marine resources.

The sixth edition of MareDireFare kicked off today, 9 April, with the opening of the Art&Science exhibition "Beyond the Blue: The Colours of the Sea", on display in the Sala Veruda in Trieste, and open to visitors until 20 April.

The programme also includes a wide range of events aimed at the general public, schools and families.

MareDireFare 2026 is co-organised by the Municipality of Trieste, the Patto per la lettura, the Museo della Bora Cultural Association and Editoriale Scienza; in collaboration with Trieste città della conoscenza, Boramata and WWF YOUng, the Pic Knit Art Cafè APS Association and Pianeta Azzurro. The Festival is also being held thanks to the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and of Dyer Island.
