Geophysics for the future of the planet

The 42nd National Conference of the GNGTS - National Group for Geophysics of the Solid Earth, the most important annual event in Italy for geophysical research, promoted by the 'OGS and the University of Ferrara, in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology INGV, the National Research Council CNR, the Department of Civil Protection DPC, the Interuniversity Consortium Network of University Laboratories for Earthquake Engineering RELUIS and the Italian section EAGE-SEG.

For three days, 300 geophysicists, seismologists, volcanologists and engineers will discuss the three macro-themes "Seismicity, volcanoes, data and models", "Analysing and reducing the risk of natural disasters" and "Applied geophysics for energy, the environment and new technologies".

The conference places particular emphasis on the participation of young people. In this context, the AGLC - Association for Geophysics “Licio Cernobori” Prize, established in 2000 in memory of Licio Cernobori, will be awarded during the conference. Licio Cernobori was a geophysicist who died at an early age, ranging from seismology to seismic studies, always maintaining his enthusiasm for research and infecting his younger colleagues. The award is intended for young people aged 35 years or younger who are first authors and presenters of scientific work presented at the Workshop for Young Researchers - AGLC.

Participation in the conference is free of charge and open to all interested parties working in the field of geosciences.
