The N/R Laura Bassi has arrived at the Mario Zucchelli Station

The icebreaker Laura Bassi arrived at Mario Zucchelli Station today, completing the first part of the 38th campaign in Antarctica, funded by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under the National Antarctic Research Programme (PNRA) and managed by the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development - ENEA for logistical planning and the National Research Council (CNR) for scientific planning.

In recent days, the vessel has intervened in the medical evacuation of a sick employee on board a New Zealand fishing vessel, following the international procedures of the 'Antarctic SAR Response Plan'.

The icebreaker, owned by the OGS, will continue its research voyage in a few days. You can track its position here.
