The OGS is part of the ACCESS2ACCESS project
ACCESS2ACCESS is a new project funded by the European Union that brings together 17 leading research infrastructures from across Europe to develop a future European framework for access to research infrastructures. The objective is to facilitate access to services and infrastructures in a manner that is both straightforward and equitable, while also fostering the promotion of world-class research through the open, integrated and efficient utilisation of available resources.
Over the next 20 months, the consortium will work to map existing access systems at European level; engage thousands of researchers and stakeholders; co-design possible models for a future European system for access to research infrastructures; and explore innovative solutions to improve access to research services and infrastructures.
OGS is participating in the project as an Affiliated Entity of ECCSEL ERIC, playing an active role in mapping current access schemes and in defining future ones.
For this reason, on 3 June 2026, OGS and ECCSEL ERIC participated in the ACCESS2ACCESS Joint INFRADEV-05 High-Level Launch Event and Summit Hackathon in Brussels. The meeting brought together research infrastructure managers, project coordinators, user organisations and national representatives to share experiences, analyse stakeholder needs and discuss possible models for more effective, harmonised and sustainable access to research infrastructures at European level. The aim was to identify critical issues and formulate recommendations for the future.
The initiative was further enriched by the contributions of Michela Vellico from OGS and Volker Röhling from ECCSEL ERIC, who served as moderators during the hackathon. Their role entailed guiding discussions and fostering the exchange of ideas and best practices within the European research infrastructure community.
