CO2SITE
INVESTABLE STORAGE ATLAS – SUPPORTING INVESTMENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CO2 STORAGE CAPACITY IN THE EU
CO2SITE will create an open-access digital atlas of investable CO2 storage sites across the EU. The atlas will support the assessment of potential geological storage sites, helping identify which locations are most suitable for development into future CO2 storage facilities. By bringing together technical, geological and infrastructure-related information, it will offer a practical tool to compare different storage options and support investment decisions.
The CO2SITE atlas is intended to become a valuable resource for project developers carrying out site screening and evaluating multiple potential storage locations. In addition, the Investable Storage Atlas and the reports produced during the project will provide regional and national authorities with reliable information to assess the feasibility of developing CO2 storage sites or clusters. This will create a stronger basis for policy decisions and help storage regulators plan future licensing activities.
