COAST-SCAPES
rethinking COASTal landSCAPES with climate-resilient interventions: systemic land-to-sea solutions
OGS is a partner in the European project COAST-SCAPES, which focuses on developing innovative strategies to support the resilience of coastal areas in the face of climate change and to reduce risks for ecosystems, communities, and socio-economic activities.
Within the project, OGS provides its expertise in coastal system modelling, developing tools to epresent the state of the Venice Lagoon in response to external pressures, land uses, and the implementation of adaptation measures, including infrastructure and Nature-Based Solutions. These activities are finalised to assess the vulnerability of the lagoon system and to evaluate how different interventions can reduce risk and strengthen adaptive capacity.
OGS contributes to the definition of the integrated framework that links environmental dynamics, climate pressures, human activities, and management options. This methodological framework is designed to support the Venice Lagoon case study and to be transferred and replicated, within the project, in other European and non-European coastal contexts, contributing to the dissemination of shared, effective, and sustainable approaches to climate adaptation.
