GEOREAL

The GEOREAL project aims to establish a cutting-edge technological hub for geosciences in Campania, designed to bridge the scientific and infrastructural divide between Northern and Southern Italy by enhancing Southern skills and natural heritage. The project's architecture is based on three main operational pillars: the Distributed Metrological Field, a high-tech network located in various strategic areas of Southern Italy (Mezzogiorno); the Geophysics Laboratory in Irpinia; and the Academy, a center of excellence for advanced training targeting graduates and professionals. In addition to its scientific and educational components, GEOREAL places technology transfer and cooperation with the productive sector at its core. Through open innovation principles, local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can directly access the laboratories and the metrological field to test sensors, calibrate prototypes, and co-design innovative solutions. At the same time, the project promotes scientific dissemination and citizen engagement by enhancing a widespread museum network and utilizing interactive technologies, transforming the culture of risk and sustainability into a tool for democratic participation.
