Giorgio Capotosti

I am responsible for managing the North-Eastern Italy Seismometric Network and the Dense Accelerometric Network of Veneto, where I have contributed to the installation of more than 350 cost-effective accelerometers in urban areas to provide rapid damage estimates. I also manage seismic and accelerometric networks in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, and the Campi Flegrei area.

I oversee the rapid calculation of ground-motion parameters (PGA, PGV, PGD, PSA) from data collected by seismic and accelerometric networks, and their integration into ShakeMap, supporting the rapid assessment of post-event ground-shaking scenarios. Building on this work, I develop automated procedures for the rapid generation of post-earthquake reports, supporting both Civil Protection activities and engineering applications. This work involves the use of High Performance Computing (HPC) resources.

I also carry out seismic sensor calibration activities at the OGS Seismological Calibration Centre.
