  • 2 fellowships for the Ph.D. program in "Earth science, fluid-dynamics and mathematics. HPC-TRES co-sponsored Call

The CMCC is taking into consideration the possibility to hire 2 talented, motivated and proactive Post Degrees to support CMCC research activities. 

The contracts will be jointly funded by CMCC and the HPC Training Research for Earth Sciences (HPC-TRES) program. The location os CMCC Headquarters in Lecce, Italy. 

  • Position 1: to explore and develop Machine/Deep Learning techniques applied to climate change applications

  • Position 2: to design and implement data science softwares libraries and applications for climate change.

In the 6th Call for applications, HPC-TRES will sponsor 4 scholarships professionalizing:

  • 1 in the field of "Multi-component operational modelling systems for Regional Environmental Protection" (line A6 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan) 
  • 1 in the field of "Numerical simulation of earthquake ground motion in 3D models of the Earth's crust" (line B1 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)
  • 1 in the field of “Development of a global search inversion technique for studying moderate-to-great earthquakes” (line B9 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)

Open call for undergraduate thesis

HPC-TRES offers a series of proposals for thesis to be carried out in collaboration with Italian Universities (for students in Physics, Mathematics, Engeneering, Computational Sciences) as strategic action to increase the awareness of undergraduate students about HPC topics and their applications to Earth Sciences. This initiative will support the technological and scientific education of those students who will be interested in starting a career in the framework of computational applications for Earth Sciences.

In the 4th Call for applications, HPC-TRES will sponsor:

  • 1 scolarship in the field of "Role and effects of air-sea coupling in the climate variability of the Mediterranean Sea" (line D4 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan) 
  • 1 scolarship in the field of "Numerical modeling of post-Last Glacial Maximum deglaciation of a marine-based paleo-ice cap" (line C5 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)
  • 1 research fellowship professionalizing in the field of"Non-equilibrium dynamics in magmatic systems" (line B6 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)
  • 1 research fellowship professionalizing in the field of "Fast evaluation of tsunami inundation scenarios for real-time and hazard analyses" (line B9 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)
  • 1 research fellowship professionalizing in the field of “Physical-biogeochemical online coupling for Mediterranean Sea” (line C3 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)
  • 1 research fellowship professionalizing in the field of “Development of a library of HPC tools for the parallel implementation of p-adaptive discontinuous finite element methods applied to geophysical flows” (line C4 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)
  • 1 research fellowship professionalizing in the field of “Development of coupled Atmosphere-Ocean-Hydrology regional earth system models” (line C6 of the HPC-TRES scientific plan)

  • 1 research fellowship professionalizing in the field of "Simulations of behaviors, responses and adaptive and evolutive characteristics ("Traits") of marine ecosystems"
