Climate Change and Coastal Risks: A Multi-Risk Approach in Urban Environments

OGS, in collaboration with the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Genoa, is promoting a two-days event dedicated to managing coastal risks in urban contexts in light of the challenges posed by climate change.

The event will take place on October 20–21 in Lignano and will include sessions for professionals, outreach events open to the public, and an invitation-only participatory science workshop. The goals are to strengthen understanding and management of coastal risks in urban areas—risks that are becoming increasingly complex and exacerbated by climate change—and to reinforce national research networks focused on environmental, natural, and anthropogenic risks, fostering more effective prevention and management strategies.

The initiative is promoted by the extended partnership RETURN (“multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate”) and enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, and the Order of Engineers of the Province of Udine.
