
Scientific Diving Summer School: registrations are now open
From 24 to 29 September 2025 OGS, in partnership with the university La Sapienza of Rome and CO 2 GeoNet (the European Network of Excellence on CO2 Geological Storage), will organize the 9th edition of the Scientific Diving Summer School, held also this year in
the fantastic scenery of Panarea Island and its underwater hydrothermal vent system. The 9th edition of the School is funded by ECCSEL-NAtLab Italy project and CO2GeoNet.
The school, organized in collaboration with National Institute of Geophisics and Vulcanology INGV (Palermo and Rome), will take place at the ECCSEL NatLab-Italy facility and it's open to graduate and postgraduate students, PhD and post-doc researchers in scientific disciplines and professionals engaged in study and management of the land and sea.
Participants will be trained in:
- multi-parameter monitoring
- underwater techniques for sampling CO 2 -rich fluids
- investigation of benthic communities
- techniques to monitor the effects of oceanic acidification at organisms, communities, and ecosystem/habitat levels
- scientific diving planning
Minimal Application requirements.
To apply participants must have:
- a diving license (issued by an Scuba Diving Association),
- a minimum of 20 certified dives (also recreational)
- a medical certificate valid for Scuba Diving
- a personal diving insurance (i.e. DAN, Aquamed or equivalent).
