EMODnet Geology
Agreement on technical-scientific collaboration in the geological mapping of the Italian seas
OGS, together with other Italian scientific institutions dealing with marine geology and geophysics, such as CNR-ISMAR, INGV, and the Universities of Genoa, Palermo, RomaTre and Trieste, contributes to the “Geological events and probabilities” activity for mapping the main structural elements in the seas surrounding the Italian peninsula. This activity, coordinated by the Geological Service of the Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale (ISPRA), is conducted within the framework of EMODnet Geology and has led to the creation of the Structural Map of the Italian Seas at the scale 1:1,250,000 (Fiorentino et alii, 2025) and the related open access database (digital version according to OGC standard database, doi: 10.15161/oar.it/212660).
