MARine COpernicus to support POLIS in Italian Coastal areas
MARine COpernicus to support POLIS in Italian Coastal areas (MARCOPOLIS) is a project proposed by OGS, in coordination with the Italian Consortium for the Copernicus Academy (CICA) and in collaboration with ISPRA, IUSS-Pavia, and CMCC, as part of the Copernicus National Collaboration Programme (NCP).
The project's objective is to promote the use of Copernicus products in marine and coastal environments to support coastal surveys, monitoring, and management, in compliance with European directives. This is achieved by organising in-person training events and providing course materials via the OGS Moodle platform.
The project is primarily intended for staff of the National Environmental Protection System and the Coastal Band Working Group. However, participation in the training events is also open to university students interested in the topics covered and from the host institutions.
The training is based on a series of case studies selected according to the preferences and interests of the participants, identified through a specially developed survey questionnaire, and is structured across different levels of complexity of the technical and IT tools used, regarding data visualisation, downloading, and analysis.
